The new production hall will be completed at record time. The construction started in April 2018 and is planned to be finished in December 2018.

Chinese vacuum company visits VACOMOn their informative tour through Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, a delegation of the Society for Vacuum Technology Industries of the South Chinese high-tech region of Shenzhen visited the vacuum technology specialist based in Jena and Großlöbichau. Shenzhen is a special economic zone bordering directly on Hong Kong and Macao and with more than 12 million inhabitants it is one of China's most important economic regions.

The representatives from research and industry expressed their wish to promote communication and friendly exchange on vacuum technologies and applications between China and Europe as well as opportunities for cooperation and to expand cooperation between Chinese and European companies, research institutes and universities.

VACOM's managing partner, Dr. Ute Bergner, introduced her company and informed the guests about the structure and goals of the German Vacuum Society, whose president she was elected in 2017. The vacuum societies of both countries are members of the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA), in which around 15,000 physicists, chemists, materials scientists, engineers and technologists from 32 nations are organized.

Prof. Dr. Michael Rüb, who presented the training opportunities and research priorities of the Ernst Abbe University Jena, where Chinese students are also being trained, also met with great interest. The courses offered especially for Chinese students to prepare for their studies attract great interest among the guests. They emphasized that young Chinese are enthusiastic about German culture and that studying at a university in Germany is a highly attractive training option for them. For high-quality studies, they are willing to take the entrance examination for the German higher education system in advance and to learn the German language.
